Resolution Life has made changes to some medical definitions

What is happening?

We have a long and proud history of delivering on customer promises, and we will continue this into the future as part of Resolution Life.To help ensure that our products continue to meet the needs of our customers and remain up to date with contemporary medical techniques and definitions, we recently completed a review of all medical conditions on our polices and made some updates.

Effective from 21 September 2020, your customers could benefit from these updated definitions.  Below is a sample of the changes:

  • Cancer – We’ve improved the melanoma qualification (reduced from 1.5mm to 1.0mm depth);
  • Cardiomyopathy - We’ve removed the requirement for permanent incapacity to work;
  • Heart Valve Surgery - We’ve expanded cover to include minimally invasive surgeries;
  • Motor Neurone Disease – We’ve improved the severity measure on some of our older products by removing ADL requirements.

For a full list of the 22 definitions impacted and updated please refer to the ‘Resolution Life Medical Definition Review and Enhancements’ brochure.

These updates are being passed back to all applicable policies, including many of our legacy trauma products.The definition table shows where the changes have been made across our product suite.

This upgrade provides customers with improvements to a range of condition definitions (eg, like “Alzheimer’s Disease & Other Dementias”). Please note the upgrade does not add new conditions onto their policy that are not already present.To see if a specific definition improvement applies to them, please refer to the definition table.If their policy includes the specific condition and their cover appears in the table, that definition improvement applies to them.
