Resolution Life NZ is a New Zealand incorporated company that has been licensed by the Reserve Bank to carry on insurance business in New Zealand. It is part of the Resolution Life Group.

Resolution Life NZ is regulated by the Reserve Bank and must comply with the requirements of the Insurance (Prudential Supervision) Act 2010 (NZ).  The licence granted to Resolution Life NZ requires the company to maintain a minimum solvency margin.

The Board of Resolution Life NZ consists of Tim Tez, CEO of Resolution Life  Australasia, Karen Scheirlinck, CEO Resolution Life NZ and three independent directors (Anne Blackburn, Alison O’Connell and Michael Schubert).  Anne Blackburn is chair of the Board.

Resolution Life NZ’s insurance activities are limited to acting as an insurer for Resolution Life’s New Zealand employee group insurance policy and as a reinsurer to Resolution Life.

Resolution Life NZ’s main role is to act as trustee of the Resolution Life NZ Trust Fund (NZ Trust). Click here for details of NZ Trust.

The reinsurance treaty with Resolution Life provides a level of additional protection for Resolution Life’s New Zealand policyholders, funded by the shareholders of Resolution Life, in the extreme case that Resolution Life is not able to meet its obligations to those policyholders.
